STIRLING CELEBRATES THE ARMED FORCES
Today [Saturday, 22 June 2013] Stirling kicked off Scotland Õs Armed Forces Day celebrations at Kings Park and the whole city was invited.
The city and surrounding communities ensured that military men and women, cadets, and veterans got a very special day of celebrations.
The unique day gave the opportunity for people in and around Stirling to thank the Armed Forces past and present for their brave service, and recognise the contribution they have made to Scotland and the United Kingdom .
The day started with a parade of military personnel, cadets and veterans stepping off from the city centre.
After the parade Stirling Military Show then began and provided an afternoon of entertainment for all the family Ð including a Royal Marines demonstration, the Military WAGS choir who topped the charts with Gary Barlow and their hit ÔSingÕ, a Spitfire flyover, Cadets drill competition, Police dogs display, and massed bands.
ÒThe colour, fun, music and spectacle of Armed Forces Day is one of the highlights of the Stirling diary,Ó said Stirling Provost Mike Robbins.
